Wordless Poetry on CD

Seamless Arrangements Creating a Tapestry of Sound
“The guitar is one of the most beautiful of instruments, so expressive in its capacities. Each string is like a different instrument in its sounds and textures, and with fingerstyle playing the guitar has many voices. I strive to find its nuances, to allow its many voices to come through seamlessly but intensely.”
— David Field, May 2009
I call my signature style of playing the guitar “wordless poetry.” I have a rich and gentle style based on a seamless arranging of songs that creates a tapestry of sound. There’s firepower there, but my main goal is to create a flowing, connected, uninterrupted feeling in the song.
I create a space for the emotions of the song to come through, to resonate with my listeners. It’s like having a conversation. It’s not about me as a player; it’s about the listener’s experience of what I play. My fans are people who like to become friends with the music they are listening to, developing a rapport with it. When there is a conversation between the guitar and the listener, a dialogue opens up and we both experience a familiar song in a whole new way.
This approach is reflected in my CD, Wordless Poetry.
This album is a sweet mingling of recognizable classics with fresh treats of David’s own. Here is a richly evocative invitation to recognize and celebrate the feelings generated by each of the selections. This is Wordless Poetry.
